My story is one of overcoming the hardships that life can cruelly throw at us, of transformation, of resilience and of the power of a positive mindset.
A rugby match in February 2013 marked a turning point in my life.
A tackle gone wrong left me with a fractured vertebra in my neck and an emptiness as I was told I could no longer play the game I so loved. Feeling worthless and devoid of purpose, my attempts to fill the hole with drinking led to a three-year spiral into depression and alcoholism.
Redemption came in the form of a fitness challenge – the London Marathon. Since then, I have sought to push my body to its limits in a series of increasingly extreme endurance challenges, proving that, with the right mindset, we are capable of anything.
